Defining your goals
If a mythical genie-in-a-bottle grant you three wishes to satisfy your deepest desires, what would you ask for?
What fantasies can you dream up?
The usual requests are for money, power, and love rather than wisdom, insight, and clarity.
As you know, the request usually backfires because the wisher did not think deeply enough about the specific details of your desires.
Our Big Dreams and Goals Define us. So Why do we Not Define Them?
You could be the best software programmer globally, but if someone comes to you and cannot define the problem or intention of the program, the programmer could not help.
If you don't know what you want, you will probably never get it
- Oliver Wendell Holmes Jr.
If you don't have a vision for your future, it will be easily controlled by others.
What are the best possible outcome and futures you can imagine?
The challenge is to think through the intricate details, ramifications and sacrifices you will need to make in pursuit of what you want.
We have to be as specific as we can.
If you do want something, you will need to be precise. The more you can see the image in your mind and engage your senses, the more likely you will get what you want.
See the dream in colour, taste it, smell it, feel the feeling of already having you want.
Nothing can stop you if you know your outcome.
Decide what you want and choose to go after it!
Then What?
Usually, later in life, we will have come to accomplish and achieve what we set out to do with passion, followed promptly by a mid-life crisis.
The question that you will then need to ask yourself is, "Then what? What if money was not an issue? What would I be doing with my time realistically?"
What would your life look like after you have realised the dream you envisioned?
Something you Get will Never Feel as Good as Something you Earned.
If you wish for health without the struggle and pain of muscle growth, there is no way you could have what you want.
Don't wish it was easier. Wish you were better. - Jim Rohn
Learning to love the process and accept the sacrifices is the only way to appreciate what you might eventually get. And if you work at a goal for long enough, you will get what you want.
The achievement of your goals should be turning you into the person that you want to become.
If you got to the end and lost it all, you would still have all the treasure within you because of the person you have created in pursuit of your dreams.
Why Should you Wait to Accomplish Your Goals to be Fulfilled?
Don't let your ill-defined ambitions stop you from your achievements.
Spend time in contemplation about the best possible outcome of what you want.
Then make choices that reflect the dream and work backwards.
The fact that you are on the right path should be what you celebrate.
Once you achieve your goals, it is vital to keep going and extend your ambitions for growth.
You don't need three wishes because that would swing your life way out of balance like a dodgy pendulum.
Accept the challenge that comes with growth and marvel at the person you become in the process of chasing your dreams.
